The Recreation Leader is responsible for assisting in overseeing the daily operations at the Center under the direct supervision of the Senior Programs Coordinator. The role involves assisting patrons, maintaining the center's cleanliness, planning, and implementing programs and having an in-depth knowledge of all department programs and activities. Furthermore, the position requires providing the highest level of customer service when interacting with customers.

This position is subject to the City of Portland’s Background Investigation and Drug Testing Policy. New hires are required to provide proof of identity and legal authority to work in the United States per Federal law.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED is preferred. -A valid Texas driver's license is required. - Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug screen -CPR/1st Aid certification is required or the ability to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills when interacting with both staff and the public, whether it be in person, by email, or over the phone. - Ability to use sound judgment when handling customer requests, conflicts, and emergencies. - Creativity, self-motivation, the ability to work independently and demonstrate effective leadership skills. - Knowledge of computer systems, software, and copiers. - Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel software programs.
