Description

The Sports Venue Maintenance Technician is under the direction of the Assistant Sports Director.  The purpose of this position is to perform maintenance of the sport complexes, facilities and parks focused on attracting overnight tourists and visitors. This is accomplished by maintaining the artificial turf fields, litter removal, mowing, weeding, trimming trees, cleaning restrooms, and maintaining the building facilities.  May perform other work related duties as required. 

This position is subject to the City of Portland’s Background Investigation and Drug Testing Policy. New hires are required to provide proof of identity and legal authority to work in the United States per Federal law.

Qualifications

High school graduation or its equivalent. One to two years of documented experience in field and facilities maintenance to include landscaping, care and maintenance of specialized turfs, minor repairs of facilities, utilizing maintenance equipment such as mowers, Gators, motorized equipment, and hand-tools. One year of documented experience working with a team or crew to maintain a facility, grounds, turfs, or building. Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License with a good driving record.

Special Requirements

Texas Department of Agricultural Non-commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License highly preferred. The physical demands described represent those that must be met by an employee to perform the functions of this job. This position is essential and attendance is mandatory in the event of a storm or disaster. The Sports Venue Maintenance Technician may work overtime as required.
