Come work for Concord's Parks and Recreation Department, where we are serious about fun. 

Water Safety Instructor’s work mid-June to late August, up to 40 hours a week. Applicants do not need a valid American Red Cross Lifeguard and WSI certifications to apply for employment however they must pass this class and present certification cards by June 1. Applicants who are hired, pass their certification classes and work 4 or more days a week will be reimbursed the cost of the class at the end of the summer.

Temporary/Seasonal 2024 Employment.

SALARY:  $17.00 - $19.00, wage is dependent on years of service.


ATTENTION:  All applicants must have (or ability to attain by start of the season) current Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid with Infant & Child and Adult CPR/AED.  

Water Safety Instructors must also have WSI Certification in addition to Lifeguard Certification. 

Prior aquatic experience is desired.

Must be 16 years of age or older to apply.  All applicants 18 years of age and older will be required to pass a Criminal Background Check.

JOB SUMMARY:  

Applicants must be dependable, enjoy working with youth and families and have good communication and problem solving skills.  

Examples of Duties

-- Responsible for the supervision, safety and accident prevention of all patrons.
 
-- Responsible for insuring that maintenance of the pool area and facilities are cleaned on a daily basis according to established maintenance procedures.

-- Required to adhere to all guidelines outlined in the Pool Staff Handbook. Required to wear approved city uniforms while on duty.
 
-- Works cooperatively with other staff and "outside groups" that use the pool for regularly scheduled activities or special events.
 
-- Completes all required paperwork in a timely manner such as time sheets, attendance reports and maintenance reports.
 
-- Administers First Aid and CPR when necessary.
 
-- Follows established procedures regarding accidents, discipline or mechanical problems.  Notifies the Parks & Recreation Supervisor and/or Pool Supervisor immediately in the event of an unusual situation or hazardous condition.
 
-- Follows and enforces department rules and regulations.
 
-- Directs all suggestions from the public to their Supervisor.  Strives to establish positive public relations for the Recreation Department and the City of Concord.
 
-- May be required to lift items that weigh more than 50 lbs. occasionally.
                                                           
Supplemental Information

WORK HOURS:

Must attend in-service training and staff meetings.  Employees must be available to work on weekends between the hours of 10 am and 4:30 p.m. and weekdays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Splash Pad Attendant

Ages 15 years old and over

 Come work for the City of Concord Parks and Recreation Department this summer. Splash Pad Attendants work late May to early September. Our splash pad is located at White Park in Concord. Must be able to communicate and enforce all relevant City rules and regulations and be able to print legibly. Previous experience working with the public is desired. Must have the ability to work as a team member. Applicants do not need a valid American Red First aid or CPR  certifications

 SALARY: Starting at $15.00 hourly.  Up to $16.00, depending on years of experience.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

-- Works under the general supervision of the Assistant Parks and Recreation Director and Pool Supervisor.

-- Provides exceptional customer service.

-- Insures pool house, deck and bathrooms are kept clean at all times.

-- Responsible for checking resident requirement or pool passes of persons entering the area.  

-- Monitors the number of people in the area, and restricts patrons from entering if the maximum number has been reached. 

-- Completes necessary paper work in a timely and accurate manner.

-- Administers and/or assists with first aid when necessary 

-- Assists in the enforcement of all pool rules and regulations.

-- Responsible for carrying out departmental procedures related to the swimming pool operation. 

WORK HOURS:           

Must attend in-service training at the beginning of season and scheduled staff meetings. Hours are typically between 30 and 40 hours a week. Employee must be able to work between the hours of 10 am. and 7:30 p.m.  Each employee is granted two days off within each seven-day period.

Typical Qualifications

Must be at least 16 years of age by June 1, 2024  

Infant/child and adult CPR and Standard First Aid certification is required, but can be obtained prior to June 1st.

The city operates six swimming pools around the city and we need to hire almost 40 lifeguards to open all six pools. Previous experience working as lifeguard is desired but not required, must have the ability to work as a team member.  

Applicants do not need a valid American Red Cross Lifeguard  and First Aid/CPR certifications to apply for employment. However they must pass this class and present certification cards by May 24, 2024. Applicants who are hired, pass their certification classes, & work 4 or more days a week until end of season will be reimbursed the cost of the class.

SALARY: LIFEGUARD  $17.00 to $18.00 hourly, depending on years of experience.

-- Lifeguards are responsible for assisting with the teaching of swim lessons.
