The City of Great Bend is seeking a visionary consensus-builder who embraces collaboration, innovation, and strategic planning as its next City Administrator. A tight-knit community, Great Bend requires a highly visible City Administrator, a servant-leader who stays well-connected with employees, civic leaders, business owners, developers, and residents. The successful candidate will promote teamwork within the organization, empower employees, avoid micromanaging, ensure appropriate work-life balance among staff, and support professional development opportunities, building and cultivating talent for succession planning.

Community leaders hope to see the next City leader settle in for a long tenure. The ideal candidate is an accomplished communicator and persuasive leader with a good moral compass and a positive attitude who displays high levels of integrity, honesty, and diplomacy.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, city planning, or a similar field, with a master’s degree preferred. Candidates should also have at least three years of related experience. Experience as an assistant city manager in a larger community will be favorably considered. Certification as a Credentialed City Manager is a plus.

The City of Great Bend anticipates a starting salary range of $114,206 to $171,309 for this position.
