Description

Nestled along the eastern and northern shores of Lake Ray Hubbard and home to an estimated 68,388 residents, the City of Rowlett is the place to live, work, and play. Split between Dallas and Rockwall counties and stretched across 20.8 square miles, the community is among the fastest growing in the country — and it’s no wonder. Residents enjoy excellent schools, beautiful neighborhoods, a variety of dining and shopping choices, quality healthcare facilities, superior utilities highlighted by fiber to every home, and a high standard of public safety.

Incorporated in 1952, the City of Rowlett operates under a home-rule charter and functions under the council-manager form of government. The City Council is composed of a mayor and six council members. The City Council appoints the City Manager, City Attorney, Prosecuting Attorney, Municipal Judges, City Auditor, and City Secretary. The City Manager is responsible for the daily management of the City.

Rowlett’s City Manager’s Office is a team of seven full-time employees, which includes one grant writer and three in the Public Information Office. It is operating on a budget of just over $1.19 million this fiscal year. The City Manager’s Office leads, directs, and coordinates City operations and staff on a daily basis. The City Manager implements City Council policy; encourages and provides for citizen input regarding City operations, services and programs; engages in special studies and projects to ensure productive operations; prepares and implements the annual operating budget; and serves as a liaison to other governmental entities.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in business, political science, public administration, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, with a master’s degree preferred. Candidates should also have at least 10 years of progressively responsible municipal management experience, including at least five years as a department director or above. Credentialing from the International City/County Management Association is a plus. Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The City of Rowlett is offering a competitive salary of $225,000 - $275,000 based on experience and qualifications.
