BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

The shift Battalion Chief shall be a sworn firefighting position. Upon acceptance of this position the selected applicant shall pass an NFPA 1583 physical and will be required to pass this physical annually along with passing the required annual physical assessments. The Battalion Chief shall be responsible for the oversight of the 2 on duty crews consisting of a total of 6 personnel and as needed volunteer staff. It shall be the responsibility of the Battalion Chief to coordinate with the volunteer Battalion Chief’s to assure volunteer members are attending meetings, trainings, and emergency responses as required per policy. The Battalion Chief shall be responsible for reporting all injuries and accidents that occur as per policy and assure all paperwork associated with the incident is completed prior to the end of the shift. The Battalion Chief shall respond to emergency incidents to assist crews and assure that the Incident Command System (ICS) is established and followed on all incidents. The Battalion Chief shall complete all other duties as assigned by the Fire Chief or designee. This position will work a 48 hour on duty/96 hour off duty schedule.
