Tampa Bay Water is looking for an innovative IT Director capable of leading the information technology division with a focus on continual improvement and efficiency. The Director must be able to lead IT strategic and operational planning consistent with the agencies strategic business plan.

Tampa Bay Water supplies wholesale drinking water to Hillsboro County, Pasco County, Pinellas County, Newport Ritchey, St. Petersburg and Tampa. Tampa Bay Water is a nonprofit special district, managed by a nine-member Board of Directors each representing an individual city or county they serve, but also representing the Tampa Bay region. The IT Director reports to the Interim General Manager, who reports

directly to the Board of Directors.

Tampa Bay Water is headquartered in Clearwater, Florida, located in Pinellas County. The area is home to several high-tech industries and has become a hub for research and development. Pinellas County is home to major universities including the University of South Florida, one of the largest in the nation. Notable employers include Lockheed-Martin, Bausch & Lomb, and the Home Shopping Network. Clearwater is about 30 minutes from Tampa Bay, Florida’s 3rd largest city. The Tampa Bay area is home to 20 corporate headquarters with over $1 billion in annual revenue. The area is known for a rich culture, incredible water views, and more recently city of champions with a Super Bowl and Stanley cup win.

Under the supervision of the Interim General Manager, the Director leads a team of 12 full-time employees and oversees an operating budget of approximately $5.5 million. The Director serves as a liaison between the agency technical staff and other staff, Board members, member government staff and other stakeholders.  The Director is responsible for assessing the current agency information systems, cyber security protections, organization and technology and must work collaboratively with to implement the information technology structure, systems structure, cyber security plan, governance, and business direction for future information technology investments.

The successful candidate will also be experienced in supervision of an Information Technology group and IT network systems planning. The Director must possess well developed oral and written communication and negotiation skills with a record of success in developing collaborative relationships with elected officials and government leaders and staff. In addition, employees of Tampa Bay Water are, by State and Federal law, Disaster Service Workers. In the event of a declaration of emergency, any employee may be assigned activities that promote the protection of public health and safety or the preservation of lives and property, either at the Agency or within the local or their own community.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or related technology field is required.
• Master’s Degree in management, business administration, public administration, computers science, information systems, engineering or related field is preferred.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The salary range for this position is $113,500 – $178,500 DOQ. The actual salary will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. Tampa Bay Water provides an excellent array of benefits.
