Description Under general supervision of the Electrician II, this position performs skilled and complex electrical installations troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of electrically powered and controlled equipment located at water production, transmission, and treatment facilities. Occasionally may be called upon to act as lead man for other electricians or for one or more mechanics or utility workers on a specific project. -Implement those portions of the overall Water Production Facilities that involves electrically powered and controlled equipment. -Performs the scheduled, unscheduled and emergency installation, troubleshooting, repair and correction of electrical problems affecting the buildings and equipment in the water facilities, as assigned by the Electronic/Instrumentation Supervisor and or the Electrician II. -Works within the parameters of an overall work schedule and keeps the Electronic/Instrumentation Supervisor and or Electrician II informed of the delays in the schedule caused by the many unscheduled and emergency requests for their time. -Assists in planning and implementing various installation and repair projects to include ordering parts, arranging for tools and equipment and coordinating the project with other work being done and with operational schedules. -Assists in keeping the necessary inventory levels of parts, supplies and tools required to properly install, troubleshoot and document all wiring and components involved with all aspects of the job. -Maintains the written records necessary to this portion of the job duties, including daily job and progress reports and upgrades to blueprints and schematics. -Assists other departmental maintenance staff in the performance of their duties, as well as assist other departments with their electrical maintenance needs. -Must be available for overtime work and callbacks as workload and emergencies dictate. -Oversees the installation and bending of EMT and Rigid conduit, pulling wire, and wiring / unwiring electrical components and devices. -Performs other job-related duties as assigned. -Must be able to drive light trucks and operate a bucket truck -Must communicate daily with Maintenance and Operations staff before, during and after making repairs that affect the water system -Must perform before and after use checks of vehicles and equipment -Must wear and maintain Fire Resistant clothing at all times -Must maintain a safe work environment to ensure the safety of others involving electrically powered equipment -Must be familiar with and follow Lockout Tag out procedures at all times -Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs switchgear, motor control systems, power systems and emergency power systems. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of experience in the electrical trade or the equivalent in a military or industrial maintenance environment. A telephone, reliable transportation, a valid Texas Driver's License and at least a Texas State issued electrical apprentice license is required. "The City may consider all related education and/or experience in determining an applicant's minimum qualifications and starting salary."
