Salary:  $86,237 - $141,311 Annually (Dependent on Qualifications)

ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview

The Engineer V will serve as the Division Manager of Land Development while providing leadership and mentorship to the Development Services department.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Oversee Engineering section.
  • Serve as Land Development Manager providing leadership and mentorship.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal/State law, City policies, procedures and professional ethics by interpreting/administering codes and standards.
  • Interact and coordinate with various City departments, private developers and other agencies to provide project review, planning and execution of the public infrastructure.
  • Prepare internal and external regulatory reports and data management.
  • Investigate and document public complaints and inquiries concerning public infrastructure.
  • Effectively communicate with public, Boards and Planning Commission and attends and presents at public information meetings, and Board and Planning Commission meetings.
  • Oversee and prepare the development of agenda memos and related backup documentation that effectively and accurately communicates relevant project details to elected officials and decision makers.
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications 

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of progressively responsible experience
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas, or a valid registration as a Professional Engineer in another state is required
  • Previous registration in Texas or another state with the ability to obtain State of Texas registration within six (6) months of employment is required
  • A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating 

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.

  • Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.
