The City of  Baytown is seeking an experienced City Engineer (PE) for our Assistant Director of Public Works & Engineering position.

Baytown is a growing community with a population of approximately 82,000 situated on the north side of Galveston Bay approximately 25 miles from Downtown Houston. The Assistant Director (City Engineer) is responsible for the administration, development and direction of the PWE Development Engineering function.  Responsibilities include leading and directing the development engineering process, long-range CIP planning and in-house design efforts.  In this key role, the City Engineer provides leadership and direction of interagency coordination, floodplain management, right-of-way permits, utility service requests and impact fee management.  The City Engineer enforces City policies, procedures and directives; is responsible for the review of development projects; manages the work of 7 staff (direct reports); and maintains the City's standard construction specifications and details. This role is also responsible for GIS data management and supervision of City's survey resources. They are responsible for evaluating, coordinating and implementing long and short-term planning, goals and objectives; ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations; and addressing questions and complaints from management, Council and residents.   

REQUIRED:
1. BS in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
2. Current Professional Engineer License (Obtain Texas P.E. license within six months).
3. Seven or more years of experience as a Licensed Professional Engineer.
4. Valid Texas Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
 
PREFERRED:

  1. Certified Floodplain Manager.
  2. Experience in review of development plans
  3. Experience in utility modeling
  4. Experience in Public Works and Public Utilities 
  5. Experience in CIP planning
