Description | To submit a formal application, please visit www.templetx.gov/jobs Job Summary Under general direction this employee is responsible for the supervision and efficiency of employees involved in Water & Wastewater infrastructure repair & operations. Prepare records and reports; decisions making require interpretations and sound judgment. Contact with the public requires courtesy, tact and diplomacy. Insure employee compliance with safety procedures and proper use of safety equipment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Provide daily supervision, delegate emergency work assignments, schedule and oversee maintenance crews and projects, which include the in-house construction crew. •Assist the public by locating water and sewer lines, investigating complaints and following through with service requests. Assist employees in problem solving. •Assist with planning, coordination and inspection of expansion and replacement projects. Supervise inflow and infiltration projects. Maintain data base for sewer stoppages and identify lines for replacement. •Assist in preparing and monitoring budget for this section of the department and prepare various reports. •Consult with Utility Services Manager on maintenance matters. Assist other utility foreman as needed. •Assist engineers on job sites, spotting lines and excavation, as needed. •Assist in reviewing plans on water and sewer projects. • Manage distribution and collection sections in absence of Utility Services Manager. •Manage operations and maintenance of a fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment. •Interview and select applicants for employment. •Ensure employee adherence to safety policy and ensure proper usage of safety equipment. •Manage emergency situations affecting city distribution and collection system. •Write reports, memos, policies, job descriptions, work plans, etc Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or GED required. Three years in leadership position in the utility field preferred. Must have knowledge in repairing water & wastewater systems. Class B water distribution and Class III wastewater collections licenses required; Class A water license preferred. |
