Do you have experience implementing modern and best practices to care for animals in a shelter environment, provide enrichment, and set them up for success once adopted? Are you an enthusiastic team leader with the management and operations experience to keep a shelter running smoothly and efficiently? Do you enjoy couching and can you lead a dynamic team? Do you have working knowledge of best practices to oversee herd health, including zoonatic disease control and rabies and bite quarantine procedures? Can you work well in a faced paced environment that requires multi tasking, flexibility, and excellent organization skills? If you can answer yes to these questions, then our Shelter Manager position might be for you! The Shelter Manager directs the operational, administrative, and supervisory duties associated with the day-to-day operation of the City's open admission municipal shelter. Work includes supervising Animal Care Workers and the Shelter Supervisor; overseeing daily feeding, watering, and cleaning routines; ordering shelter supplies; and addressing maintenance/repairs and upkeep of the facility. The City of Amarillo offers highly competitive pay as well as a comprehensive benefits package. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in management of a shelter or animal care operation. Basic Animal Control Officer within one (1) year of hire. Valid Texas Driver's License required or can obtain within thirty (30) days of hire. Euthanasia Certificate for the State of Texas within one (1) year of hire. Must have or be able to obtain pre-exposure rabies vaccinations within six (6) months of hire. Salary: DOQ
