Pay Rate: $29.50/hourly rate + certification pay. (Based on 2080 hours per year)

The Captain of South Padre Island Beach Patrol plans, organizes, directs and controls all lifeguard operations.  This includes budget preparation and administration as well as development and implementation of South Padre Island Beach Patrol policies and procedures. The Captain of South Padre Island Beach Patrol is responsible for all aspects of hiring, training, and assigning lifeguard personnel. This staff member also coordinates and communicates with all emergency response personnel including Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Services, Coast Guard, Fire Department, Shoreline, Public Works, Home Land Security and Animal Control Departments. Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) in Public Administration, Emergency Management, or related field. Must have at least (5) years of experience in management or supervision in the field of beach or water safety. Must have a minimum of (2) years of experience as an instructor or assistant instructor of a program that meets minimal recommended standards for USLA certification.
