Description | Under the direction of the City Manager, this position manages and directs the Amarillo Fire Division’s three departments which include Fire, Fire Civilian, and Fire Marshal’s Office. Duties include developing operations and strategic goals and long range vision, standard operating procedures, and staffing policies; assuring compliance with Federal, State and Local laws and with national standards; developing and administering the budget; developing and implementing training and promotional processes; planning budgeting and overseeing the implementation of Capital Improvements projects; regularly interacting with City leaders, citizens and a wide array of community and regulatory groups; and coordinating the response to large-scale emergencies.
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible administrative and supervisory experience in incident command, fire and life safety education, prevention, administration, and emergency response work. This position requires a Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) Certified Intermediate Structural Firefighter, NREMT/TDSHS EMT-Basic, TCFP Fire Instructor II (or higher), Valid Texas Class “B” Exempt Driver’s License. Attainment of TCFP Advanced Firefighter (or higher) must be achieved within one year of appointment. National Incident Management System training (NIMS) required courses include: IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-701, IS-702, IS-703, IS-706, IS-800, ICS-300 AND ISC-400. Salary: DOQ |
