Non-rotating 40 hour work week; Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview

The Operations Manager ensures that the Corpus Christi International Airport (CCIA) is operated and maintained in a safe and secure manner as required by Federal Aviation Regulations.  The position monitors proposed development projects for non-compatible land use and height obstructions. Responsible for maintaining the Airport Certification Manual and Airport Emergency Plan in compliance with federal, state and local requirements and serves as the department liaison with the City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for emergency planning and operations.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations Parts 77, 139, and 150, compliance with FAA Advisory Circulars and for airport operating certifications. Must understand TSAR Parts 1540 and 1542 (Airport Security) and make necessary security decisions in compliance with the regulations as the Alternate Airport Security Coordinator.
  • Administer and maintain the Airport Certification Manual, Wildlife Hazard Management Plan, Airport Emergency Plan, and Airport Hurricane Preparedness Plan.
  • Provide supervision and oversight of staff to include airport electricians, airport maintenance, instrument technicians, and operations specialists; provide job specific training for airport safety and certifications.
  • Serve as the hiring manager for the operations division.
  • Coordinate routine maintenance and capital improvement projects with airport tenants, FAA air traffic control tower and operations staff.
  • Review plans for compliance with safety and operational requirements.
  • Work with tenants and airport users to coordinate charters, construction projects and special events.
  • Work with various local, state and federal agencies to ensure compliance with rules and regulations and to coordinate emergency preparedness.
  • Serve as the Airport Security Coordinator in the absence of the Chief of Public Safety.
  • Prepare and monitor the division’s annual budget.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

 

Certifications, Licenses or Other Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a TSA criminal background check
  • NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800 must be obtained within 6 months of hire
  • TSA Airport Security Coordinator certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire
  • Accreditation through American Association of Airport Executive (AAAE) & Airports Council International (ACI) within one year of hire

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in related field
  • Master’s Degree (MS/MA) preferred
  • Six (6) years operations experience required; including four (4) years supervisory experience in Airport Operations with a Part 139 Certified Airport
  • A valid Class C driver’s license is required.  Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating 

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
