Description | Located in north-central Oklahoma, Stillwater is a vibrant city of approximately 50,000 residents, conveniently located just 20 miles east of I-35, and just one hour from Oklahoma City and Tulsa and one and a half hours from Wichita, Kansas. The City is a goal-oriented organization which strives to benefit the community by employing a philosophy of team work, integrity, innovation, and leadership. The City operates under a council-manager government system, in which an elected city council is responsible for making policy, passing ordinances, and approving the City’s budget. The Council appoints a city manager who implements the policies adopted by the council. The City is seeking an Assistant City Manager – Innovation, who will report directly to the City Manager and will be a key member of the administrative team. The primary focus of the ACM - Innovation will be on creatively addressing issues that are prioritized through focus groups and task forces where citizen input is generated and organizational studies and evaluations to identify projects that align with the City’s vision and goals. The ACM-Innovation will have full authority in working with department directors in the development of timelines and milestones as well as preparation of reports on progress of projects. A bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, industrial engineering, information technology, or a related field is required. A master’s degree in business administration, public administration, organizational leadership, or a related field is preferred. Three years of senior-level experience in a municipal government organization or as a consultant to municipal governments is required. Training in Lean Six Sigma, Denver Peak Academy, Project Management (PMP), or equivalent is highly preferred. Three years of increasingly responsible professional-level experience with analytics or performance management in executing large-scale performance, process improvement, or other projects is desired. The starting salary is negotiable in the $125,000 range DOQ/E.
