The City Engineer supports the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Director in planning, managing and overseeing the activities and operations of the CIP department. Duties include coordinating activities and projects with all engineering divisions, city departments and other government agencies; determining, administering and budgeting projects from conception to completion; assigning work activities and monitoring workflow in order to implement adjustments as needed; and supervising assigned staff. This position represents CIP at various public hearings and events, including City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission meetings. Duties will require a high level of verbal and written communication skills. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field, eight years of civil engineering experience, including five years as a professional engineer; as well as two years of prior supervisory experience required. Must have a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment, and a valid Texas driver’s license.
