POSITION:                 YOUTH SPORTS OFFICIAL - SOCCER  

DEPARTMENT:         RECREATION

REQUISITION:          20-04

STATUS:                   PART-TIME

SALARY RANGE:     $12.00-$20.00/HR, DOQ

WORK SCHEDULE: SATURDAY (9AM – 4:00PM) HOURS VARY

OPENING DATE:      FRIDAY, JANUARY 10, 2020

CLOSING DATE:       OPEN UNTIL FILLED

SUMMARY: 

Performs those duties directly relating to control and officiating organized youth soccer. Works under the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Attends pre-season orientation and training; maintains a thorough knowledge of all rules involved in officiating soccer; completes all required training; aids supervisors in maintaining accurate starting times for games; files written reports on all incidents that could result in protests or player ejection; maintains proper dress for the position; supplies necessary equipment (whistle, etc.); aids in set up and tear down of necessary equipment; provide qualified substitutes when necessary; performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Requires training in officiating soccer; complete knowledge of soccer rules and regulations; skill in customer service; ability to effectively communicate; ability to address difficult situations involving players and spectators with patience, good judgment, and diplomacy; ability to follow both oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all city employees and the general public.  Some experience in soccer officiating is desirable.  Must be 16 years of age and have own transportation.
