Description | $13.42 hourly; Full-time position 7am-3:30pm To submit a formal application, please visit www.templetx.gov/jobs Job Summary Utilize physical labor to assist in water and wastewater line repairs and replacement, excavation, meter installation and taps. Operate equipment associated with maintenance and construction of water and sewer main projects. Provide a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Drive various trucks, primarily dump truck to haul base, spoil, debris, top soil and other material involved in the maintenance and repair of water and sewer mains. Assist in repairing water and wastewater mains; clean and prepare pipe for repairs; install repair parts and evaluate effectiveness of repair. Assist in excavation; operate air hammer to break rock and asphalt; use pick and shovel to remove dirt and rock from hole; use probe to locate pipe. Install water/wastewater taps; prepare pipe and fittings, tap main by hand and/or machine and install service properly. Clean wastewater lines; use hand and / or machine rods to unclog or clean. Miscellaneous jobs; install fire hydrants, valves, manholes and clean-outs. Clean and maintain vehicles, tools and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent required Utility construction experience required Experience operating construction equipment (dump trucks, backhoes, loaders, etc.) required Valid class C driver’s license required; must obtain a class A CDL with tanker endorsement within six months of employment Must obtain a Texas Class C water distribution license or Class II wastewater collections license within two years of employment (depending on crew assignment). Dual licensing of both Class C water distribution and Class II wastewater collection is preferred. |
