Description | M-F 7AM-3:30PM; OT AS NEEDED; $15.65 - $17.61 Hourly To submit a formal application, please visit www.templetx.gov/jobs Job Summary Supervise crew; operate heavy equipment; install sewer and water taps; repair water leaks; assist troubleshooter in clearing sewer lines; coordinate job, equipment, materials and crew; knowledge if mechanics, construction and sewer locations and specifications. Ensure safety policies and procedures are enforced. Must have general knowledge of computers. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Repair, replace and install water and sewer lines, valves, fire hydrants, clean-outs, manholes and appropriate apparatus. Install taps for water and sewer. • Provide supervision for employees assigned to crew and train employees. • Operate heavy equipment including backhoe/front-end loader, trenching machine, boring machine and various other equipment to include hand tools. • Plan, coordinate and ensure parts, supplies and equipment are available for use on job. • Inspect all equipment before use and report problems to supervisor and equipment maintenance. • Ensure that all safety policies are followed. Ensure safety equipment is used, inspected and installed correctly, to include PPE, on a daily basis. • Prepare job documents parts, man hours and equipment used on the job and all pertinent data. • Provide locates for water and sewer lines for other departments, customers and various other organizations. (knowledge of computers). • Use TV monitor and inspect sewer mains and services and various other types of pipe when assigned to camera crew. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required. Utility construction experience required. Experience operating construction equipment (dump trucks, backhoes, loaders, etc.) required. Experience operating specialty utility equipment (vacuum truck, CCTV inspection, etc.) preferred. Valid Class C driver’s license required. A valid class A CDL with tanker endorsement required within six months. Class C water distribution and Class II wastewater collection licenses required. Class B water distribution and Class III wastewater collections licenses must be obtained within two years of hire. |
