City Administrator

 

Port Washington, WI (Population 11,876)

 

Port Washington is seeking a dynamic and proven municipal leader who will replace the retiring city administrator who has served the community for over 33 years. The City is a progressive and growing community located on Lake Michigan in southeastern Wisconsin and is a 25 minute drive north of Milwaukee. Port Washington has a bustling downtown, large marina, business parks and is a regional market center. The City is a full service community that prides itself on being a great place to live, work, play, learn and visit as well as for providing high quality municipal services. It combines a small town quality of life with the amenities of a large metro area just minutes away.  Starting salary range $106K-$123K plus excellent benefits, DOQ.  Mayor and seven City Council members elected on a non-partisan basis; Mayor for 3 year term and Alderpersons 2 year terms.  $10M General Fund Annual Operating Budget with separate Annual Enterprise Fund Budgets (Sewer, Water, Marina and TIF) totaling another $9M. 77 FT and 175+PT and seasonal employees. Future emphasis on continued Citywide Commercial  and Lakefront redevelopment; new Fire Station planning; Long-Range Financial Plan implementation including replacing aging infrastructure; Property Reassessment Program and enhanced community development  efforts to attract younger families.

 

Require Bachelor’s Degree in public or business administration or related field; prefer Master’s Degree with eight (8) years of progressive municipal experience.  ICMA-CM credential is a plus. Residency is encouraged. Desire a strong skill set in budget development and debt financing; capital improvement planning and implementation; economic development facilitation with an emphasis on downtown/lakefront redevelopment; human resources; intergovernmental relations; organizational change and development and the ability to cultivate positive and productive relationships with the city council, staff and citizens.  The successful candidate should have a high level of both personal and professional integrity; have a collaborative style in carrying out Council policies; forward thinking
