POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Position Description

The Incumbent will perform a variety of duties for the Training Section within the Operational Support Division of the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office (HCFMO).

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and delivery of training (in person and online)
  • Coordinates amongst all Branches of HCFMO their training needs to include:
  • Scheduling of classes and facilities
  • Assisting in scheduling of instructors
  • Ensuring that all logistical needs are met
  • Maintains a working knowledge of training compliance for both the Texas Commission on Fire Protection along with Texas Commission on Law Enforcement
  • Evaluates all training policies and procedures for the Agency
  • Assists with scheduling and coordinating of training for both internal and external partners
  • Works closely with other training staff to ensure continuity and completion of projects
  • Manages training schedule and course registration
  • Collects and organizes data to produce reports
  • Represents HCFMO and acts as a liaison with other agencies for training
  • Assists in the development of strategic planning, goal setting, and objective establishment for the Training Division
  • Assists in the management, development, and maintenance of training field props
  • Serves as a member of the Agency Safety Officer Program
  • Assists in ensuring all training materials used by the Agency are compliant and updated
  • Performs other duties as assigned by direct supervisor and/or HCFMO management

REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency and
  • Five (5) years' relevant experience

Collegiate degree may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis
 

Additional Requirements

  • Structural Firefighter Certification through Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP)
  • A Valid Class C Driver's License (State of Texas upon hire)
  • Within one year of appointment, provide proof of completion for NIMS IS-100, IS-200, IS-300, IS-700 and IS-800

PREFERENCES:
  • Associate's Degree and three (3) years' relevant experience
  • Intermediate-level [or higher] Structural Firefighter Certification through TCFP
  • Intermediate or higher Peace Officer Certification through Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)
  • Experience with e-Learning or other learning management software
  • Completed training in NIMS IS-100, IS-200, IS-300, IS-700 and IS-800
