The City of Sault Ste. Marie is conducting a national search for a Director of Public Works. The ideal person will be highly strategic and be capable of providing inspirational leadership and continuous improvement of public services.  The next Public Works Director will lead a team of 45 employees addressing streets, snow plowing and removal, water treatment and transmission, sewer collection and wastewater treatment, cemetery and marina services.

The Public Works Director also oversees the annual development of a $7 million budget and proactively addresses infrastructure maintenance needs citywide.  This position requires a proven track record of working effectively directing a team while managing large-scale public works programs.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in construction management, public utilities management, civil engineering or comparable field;
• Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in municipal public works management roles, including four years in a supervisory capacity;
• An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable;
• Ability to multi-task and perform with evolving priorities.
