The City of Cedar Park is seeking candidates for the position of Animal Control Officer:

• Patrols, captures, transports and impounds domestic animals and non-domestic animals that are not appropriately restrained, vicious, injured or that are creating health/safety hazards as prescribed by City ordinances and the Texas Department of Health, and responds to citizen complaints and public service calls regarding same;
• Investigates reported complaints regarding animal cruelty and abuse, animal bite instances, animal nuisances, and other violations of City ordinances and State laws; including issuance of warnings and citations for violations as appropriate;
• Provides for the humane care and feeding of impounded animals: maintains the temporary holding animal impound facility and grounds in a safe and sanitary manner; 
• Removes dead animals, transporting and disposing of them properly;
• Educates citizens to promote health, safety, and responsible pet ownership;
• Appears and testifies in municipal and/or county court in cases involving violations of city ordinances and state laws relating to animal control;
• Works assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays;
• Respond to after hour emergency calls on a rotating basis; and
• Perform such other related duties as may be assigned.

Acceptable Experience, Training, Certifications and Licenses

High School Diploma, or its equivalent, plus at least one (1) year of animal control experience; 
 
Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
 
Basic Animal Control Certification by Texas Department of Health within one year of employment.

Supplemental Information

Valid Texas Driver's License, with acceptable driving record.
