Description

The Town of Prosper is currently seeking qualified applicants for the
position of Human Resources Director. 

 

The Town of Prosper is a fast-growing suburb with small town charm, located 30 miles north of Dallas.  Prosper sits on 27 square miles and is home to more than 25,000 people.  A home-rule municipality, governed by a council-manager form of government, the town has full-time fire and police departments, including its own dispatch service. As the Town grows to its projected build-out population of 70,000 residents, Prosper’s vision is to remain a “Place Where Everyone Matters.”  


Under general direction of the Executive Director of Administrative Services, the Human Resources Director will direct, manage, supervise and coordinate the activities and operations of the Human Resources department including recruitment, employment services, personnel issues, compensation and benefits, employee relations, performance management, customer service, training, safety, workers' compensation, organization and policy development, and payroll support. The Director will take a lead role in providing assistance and direction to Town staff; coordinating assigned activities with other divisions, departments and outside agencies; and providing highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Executive Director of Administrative Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field.  Professional certification preferred. (PHR, SPHR, etc.)
  • Five or more years of progressive Human Resources work experience (governmental experience is preferred). Experience must also include working knowledge in multiple disciplines, including but not limited to: Employee Relations, Compensation, Benefits, Strategic Planning, Staffing/Recruitment. Two or more years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License or ability to obtain and a safe driving record.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, prioritize and organize work assignments. 
  • Extensive working knowledge of the principles, practices, theories, and governing regulations of human resources.
  • Excellent managerial, leadership, organizational, negotiation, policy making, and budgetary skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with negotiating and managerial abilities.
  • Advanced computer skills and software knowledge (MS Office).
