Little Elm, Texas, is an exciting community ideally located near Dallas. Growing from a community of around 2,000 in 2000 to 46,498 today, Little Elm is one of the fastest-growing communities in the country. The Town of Little Elm is situated on several peninsulas along the eastern shores of Lewisville Lake, a 23,280-acre reservoir operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Denton County. Major highway service to Little Elm includes US 380, FM 720, and FM 423.

The Town of Little Elm is a home rule city with a council-manager form of government. The Fire Chief reports directly to the Assistant Town Manager. The Town of Little Elm seeks a visionary, forward-thinking servant leader to serve as its new Fire Chief. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual who strives for success and possesses the ability to remain calm, confident, and competent in high pressure situations.

The following certifications, licensing, and experience are REQUIRED qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in fire science or a related field
  • Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) Advanced Firefighter certification
  • TCFP Instructor I certification
  • TCFP Fire Officer IV certification
  • TCFP Head of Department certification or the ability to obtain certification within one year of hire date
  • Texas Department of State Health Services
  • (TDSHS) EMT-Basic certification
  • At least 15 years of experience in a municipal fire department
  • Progressive supervisory experience, including prior experience as a chief or assistant chief in a community of similar size or division head in a larger community

The following certifications and licensing are PREFERRED qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in fire science, public administration, or a related field
  • TCFP Master Firefighter certification
  • TDSHS EMT-Paramedic certification
  • Texas Fire Chief Academy Certified Fire Executive (CFE)
  • Completion of the Texas A&M Fire Service Chief Executive Officer (FSCEO) program
  • Executive Fire Officer (EFO) certification through the National Fire Academy
  • Chief Fire Officer (CFO) certification through the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE)

There is no residency requirement -To provide a presence from the Fire Chief, appropriate response time into the Town limits will be determined. An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills will be considered. The salary range for this position is mid $140’s to low $150’s depending on qualifications and experience.
