Description | To submit a formal application, please visit www.templetx.gov/jobs $53,268.00 - $61,921.00 Annually Job Summary Under administrative direction, is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and overseeing support operations for the Director of Public Works. Formulates and implements policies and procedures; serves as a liaison between the Director's office and other divisions. Analyzes and interprets data to create summary reports and make recommendations for operational and administrative procedures. Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff. Essential Duties & Responsibilities •Directs, manages, and oversees administrative operations for the Director's Office, including interpreting, formulating, and implementing policies and procedures; assists in assessing situations and gathering information to present for Director's decisions. •Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of staff responsible for providing professional, technical, and clerical support within the Director's office. •Recommends and assists in the implementation of goals and objectives; establishes schedules and methods for meeting goals and providing effective services across the department; develops long-range department planning, strategic planning, 5-year operational planning, and asset management planning. •Coordinates department-wide annual budget preparation; compiles data, evaluates and maintains budget items and accounts; researches budget questions and issues; prepares internal and external budget reports and provides Director with departmental budget status reports. •Collects operational and administrative information, and compiles data for reports; analyzes and reports operational statistics. Writes technical and analytical reports, and makes technical estimates of a specialized nature in connection with department programs and regulatory issues. •Serves as project manager for accreditation process; collaborates with Division Directors and support staff to review policies and procedures to ensure alignment with best management practices. •Reviews Public Works portion of city-wide Emergency Management Plan and make recommendations to update as needed; provides assessment on readiness of departmental emergency response preparedness and makes training recommendations. •Participates in the selection of professional, technical and clerical staff; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; implements disciplinary procedures
•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Management, Business, Finance, Planning or related field. Five years of full-time work experience in an administrative, executive support or project management position. Plus (2) two years supervisory experience. |
