Description | FORT BEND COUNTYDEPARTMENT: FIRE MARSHALJOB TITLE: HAZMAT TECHNICIAN PART-TIME
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for responding to Hazardous Material incidents in a timely, safe and skilled manner, and participate in control and mitigation of the spill to prevent or limit loss of live, environmental impact, and property loss. Participates in inspections of Hazardous Materials business for safety and pre-planning for emergency incident response. Participates in planning of programs, policies, or objectives for work group and department.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Identifies, removes, packs or disposes of hazardous materials. Handles various products, hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Operates and maintains equipment. Completes incident reports, inspection reports, and other necessary documents. Other duties as assigned. Keeps the station and related grounds, facilities and supplies in a clean, orderly and usable condition. Conducts fire inspections and other fire prevention tasks on a frequent and timely basis, to eliminate or reduce hazards and enforce codes. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma/GED; Two years job related experience. Strong computer and verbal and written skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials. Good organizational skills, ability to prioritize own work and ability to complete assigned tasks within tight deadline. TCFP Firefighter, TCFP Hazmat Technician, TCFP Hazmat Incident Commander, Class B Drivers License (CDL preferred).
SALARY: Part-Time, Pay will be based on qualifications, up to 28 hours per week CLOSING: Upon filling position
