 The City of McAllen is currently seeking to add a new Deputy Director of Public Works to their Public Works team that is dedicated to consistently providing high quality services and quality of life to all who live, work and visit the City of McAllen.

Under administrative direction, the Deputy Director of Public Works is responsible for assisting the Public Works Director in supervising, planning, directing, managing and overseeing all the activities and operations of assigned functions within the Public Works Department. Employee exercises direct supervision over management, supervisory, professional, technical and clerical staff. The Department of Public Works includes the Division of Solid Waste, Recycling, Streets, Drainage and Fleet Maintenance.

Minimum Requirements:

1. This position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university with major coursework in Public Administration, Engineering, Business Administration or a work-related field.
2. Requires a minimum of five (5) years of full-time paid, progressive, professional employment.
3. Job requires at least four (4) years of professional work related experience.
4. Local-level goverment experience is highly desired with practical experience in a wide range of engineering projects, municipal engineering work, supervising and managerial decision making experience. 
5. Must possess a valid Class "C" TX Driver's License.

Additional Information:

1. This position has direct supervisory responsibilities of over 75 employees and indirect supervisory responsibilities of over 125 other employees.
2. This position is safety sensitive subject to alcohol and drug testing.
