Performs a variety of plan review, inspection, and code enforcement duties to ensure compliance with fire and life safety codes for new and existing construction and commercial or industrial activities; performs directly related work as required.

Wage/Salary: $6,071.35 per month

Bargaining Unit: Bozeman Firefighters IAFF Local 613

Fair Labor Standards Act Status: Non-Exempt

Work Week: 40 hours per week, typically M-F 8am-5pm

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate’s Degree in Fire Science, Architectural Design, Structural Engineering, or closely related field; and 

• Considerable (3-5 years) experience in Fire, Construction, and other Building trades; or

• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.

REQUIRED SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have a valid Montana Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within six (6) months of employment;

• Must obtain the ICC Fire Inspector I and ICC Commercial Building Inspector Certifications within the Probationary Period.
