Description | JOB SUMMARYEmployee performs a variety of assignments relating to the general administration, planning and evaluation of the operations and programs of city government and is responsible for significant projects assigned by the City Manager that involve a high level of expertise, coordination and analysis. Serves as an advisor to the City Manager and helps to ensure that administrative duties for which the City Manager is responsible are accomplished. Oversees activities of Public Works, Public Utilities, Parks and Recreation, Police, Fire and Municipal Court. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSMust possess a valid drivers license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USEDPersonal computer, including word processing, spreadsheet and data base; motor vehicle; phone; radio; fax and copy machine. PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work is performed mostly in office settings. Some outdoor work is required in the inspection of various land use developments, construction sites, public works facilities and public utilities facilities. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment. Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reaching with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must occasionally push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds. SELECTION GUIDELINESFormal application; rating of education and experience; oral interview and reference check; drug screening; job related testing may be required; final selection and pre-employment medical examination.
