Description | COMMUNITY CENTER EVENTS COORDINATOR POSTED: November 20, 2019 Pay Range: $42,979 to $55,000
JOB SUMMARY: The City of Portland, Texas is receiving applications for Community Center Events Coordinator. The purpose of this position is to ensure the Community Center’s meeting rooms and indoor and outdoor facilities are marketed and reservations secured for small and large-scale events focused on attracting overnight tourists and visitors. This is accomplished by marketing and publicizing center availability, preparing rental proposals, executing and managing rental agreements, modifying agreements as needed, and overall management of the community center events reservation office. May perform other duties as required.
This position is subject to the City of Portland’s Background Investigation and Drug Testing Policy. The City verifies all information prior to extending an offer of employment. New hires are required to provide proof of identity and legal authority to work in the United States per Federal law. THE CITY OF PORTLAND IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, or closely related field required. Three years of documented experience marketing, publicizing, and securing reservations for small- and large-scale events in an established conference facility, hotel, or event center.
One to three years of cash handling experience to include accepting payments, tracking payments and balances owed, creating and making deposits, and creating and reporting income verses expenditures per event. One to three years of supervisory experience (minimum 2 direct reports) to include supervising daily routines, managing timesheets, assigning projects and/or duties as required per event. Valid Class C drivers’ license required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: One year of contract development and management experience to include creating and amending contracts as appropriate for specialized events, accepting deposits and documenting payment plans for rental agreements, and ensuring appropriate documentation of contract close out preferred. One to three years of experience managing and preparing budget recommendations and preparing data reports preferred. This includes creating a budget of income and expenses related to room rental and/or event(s), evaluating outcomes of executed contracts, and analyzing data to improve future rentals and return on investment(s) preferred.
