The City of Waco seeks an innovative, seasoned, results-driven Director of Solid Waste to provide sound leadership for the City’s Solid Waste Department. The Solid Waste Department provides environmentally sound and cost effective waste management services in the form of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional garbage collection and disposal to more than 41,000 residential and 5,000 commercial customers. A city owned and operated 237 acre landfill is managed for the end disposal of wastes originating in Waco and surrounding region.

A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Engineering, Business or Public Administration, or a related field AND seven years of municipal Solid Waste program management experience are required; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. The candidate must possess a valid driver’s license. A professional license as a Municipal Solid Waste Facility Supervisor from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is required; additional technical certifications may be required.
