The City oif Bozeman, MT is growing and in need of qualified/certified Building Inspectors to join the team!  We are primarily seeking qualified/certified commercial inspectors. 

Bargaining Unit: Montana Federation of Public Employees

Fair Labor Standards Act Status: Non-Exempt

Work Week: Typically M-F, 7am-4pm

Wage: $52,021 - $67,555/year depending on experience and qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

BUILDING INSPECTOR II:
High School Diploma or GED; and
At least two years of experience in building construction, building inspection, or plans examining; and 
At least one year-experience as a Building Inspector I; and
Possession of three certifications in one discipline, plus Combo certification within one year of hire as a Building Inspector II:
 - ICC Residential or Commercial Building Inspector;
 
 - ICC Residential or Commercial Mechanical Inspector;
 
 - ICC Residential or Commercial Electrical Inspector;
 
 - IAPMO Plumbing Inspector.
 

Any combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.

BUILDING INSPECTOR III:

High School Diploma or GED; and
At least two years of experience in building construction, plans examining, or building inspection, and 
At least two years-experience as a Building Inspector II; and 
Possession of seven of the listed certifications (one Combo certifications and three certifications in one discipline):
 - ICC Residential Building Inspector;
 
 - ICC Residential Mechanical Inspector;
 
 - ICC Residential Electrical Inspector;
 
 - ICC Commercial Building Certification;
 
 - ICC Commercial Mechanical Inspector Certification;
 
 - ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector Certification;
 
 - IAPMO Plumbing Inspector.
 

Any combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.

BUILDING INSPECTOR IV:

High School Diploma or GED; and
At least two years-experience in building construction, plans examining, or building inspection; and 
At least four years-experience as a Building Inspector III, or equivalent building inspection experience in another organization; and 
Possession of each of the following certifications:
ICC Residential Building Inspector;
ICC Residential Mechanical Inspector;
ICC Residential Electrical Inspector;
ICC Commercial Building Certification;
ICC Commercial Mechanical Inspector Certification;
ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector Certification;
IAPMO Plumbing Inspector.
Any combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.
