Overview 

The Senior Project Manager will demonstrate a commitment to providing continuous quality service, protect and promote the brand, image, and reputation of the City, while striving to exceed the needs and expectations of our citizens and employees.

Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities

  •          Provides project management and oversight of Capital Improvement Projects
  •          Manages and coordinates projects and activities between various departments, public agencies, and/or stakeholder representatives throughout the duration of the project
  •          Coordinates and prepares reports and correspondence in response to requests for information from City Departments and/or stakeholder representatives
  •          Prepares City Council agenda material such as ordinance, memorandums and presentations
  •          Ensures projects are reviewed within City timelines by coordinating technical staff reviews in multiple departments
  •          Requires knowledge of the City’s Capital Improvement Program as well as comprehensive knowledge of all City codes and their applicability to a specific project
  •          Anticipates construction issues to be resolved by assisting in bringing staff together to provide clarity and resolve issues during plan review design
  •          Compiles written materials (logs, sign-in sheets, presentation, etc.) for project records by maintaining the project diary as an official record of issues, decisions, and contacts.
  •          Assembles submittal requirements for the project and maintains project assumptions, schedules, and quality estimates of fees by ensuring adequate noticing for the project, assuring appropriate sign off for project issuance, coordinating activities are completed in a timely manner
  •          Plans, tracks and manages to success the projects assigned
  •          Understand and follow the project management frameworks for project delivery
  •          Ensure project resources are applied appropriately
  •          Work with other department personnel, consultants, and contractors to estimate time and resource utilization
  •          Analyze risk and mitigation accordingly, including establishing contingency plans and initiating corrective action.
  •          Track and report key project metrics.
  •          Keep all stakeholders informed of project status and issues.
  •          Arbitrate and resolve conflict within the project
  •          Coordinate participation of different stakeholders in requirements gathering, specifications, design, development, and implementation of key projects
  •          Promulgate department wide project and management processes
  •          Learn, understand, and actively use project management software to effectively manage project deliverables
  •          May be asked to perform a variety of other tasks that support quality performance and service as assigned

Qualifications 

·         Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university

·         Five (5) years of related experience

·         A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered

·         A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
