Description | Solid Waste Collection Supervisor Summary: Under basic supervision, schedules, coordinates, plans and supervises the daily activities of Public Works Department (PWD) solid waste collection work crews; sets priorities and allocates labor, vehicles and equipment for daily work; assures quality of work performed and verifies that vehicles, equipment and tools are used in compliance with all safety regulations and standard procedures. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Minimum Qualifications: Education, Training and Experience Guidelines: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required; AND four years of solid waste collection experience, including lead worker experience, preferably with the City of Odessa. Knowledge of:
Skill in:
License and certification requirements: A Texas State Class B CDL is required. Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Operator/Facility Supervisor license from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is required or ability to obtain within two years of employment. Physical demands and working environment: Work is performed indoors, outdoors, and at City facilities; requires moderated physical efforts, and the ability to bend, reach, stoop and lift objects; may be exposed to safety hazards and dangerous tools and equipment; safety precautions must be followed, including use of safety equipment and protective gear. City approved safety shoes must be worn.
