Description | IT Project Coordinator Summary: Manages technology projects either independently or in concert with the Director of Information Technology, assuring that details are formulated, executed or well communicated between customers and staff resources. This position will assure that high customer service support standards are being met on project work and support requests throughout all functional areas of the department. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: This position will plant, execute and finalize projects according to deadlines and budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of department staff, department end-users, and third party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Coordinator will also define the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. This position will be instrumental as the centralized customer relationship manager between the Information Technology department and all city customers.
Minimum Qualifications: Education, Training and Experience Guidelines: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical discipline or equivalent experience. PMP Certification from Project Management Institute (PMI) is preferred. Must have experience managing technology support functions and/or coordinating technical projects for a medium sized organization. Minimum of five (5) years of coordinating technical projects and at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity; OR any equivalent combination of experience. License and certification requirements: A Valid Texas State Driver's License is required. PMI PMP Certification preferred, other professional IT certifications are desirable. Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of FBI criminal background fingerprint check in accordance with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) standards. Must carry a cell phone 24x7 for emergency communication needs. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
