Description

The Town of Prosper is currently seeking a motivated and experienced
professional to join our team as a Civil Engineer!

HIRING RANGE:  $75,066 - $88,314 annually
FULL SALARY RANGE:  $75,066 - $101,561 annually


As an Engineer with the Town of Prosper, you will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of civil engineering activities which includes, but is not limited to, execution of the Town's capital improvement program, and monitoring and reviewing new development; responding to citizen and professional inquiries and complaints; reviewing grading plans, analyzing, and making recommendations for drainage problems; and evaluating traffic concerns.

  • Review and provide comments on subdivision plats, construction and development plans in compliance with capital improvement needs and appropriate local standards, ordinances, and accepted practices.
  • Provide information, as requested, on existing and proposed infrastructure system (i.e., location, size and/or depth of existing and proposed water, sewer, and storm drain lines street/thoroughfare alignment and roadway width, etc.).
  • Review traffic studies, counts, speed surveys, and signal timing, and make recommendations on transportation issues.
  • Identify problems and prepare and recommend solutions for drainage issues throughout the Town.
  • Receive and respond to citizens, developers, and/or engineers' inquiries and complaints regarding engineering issues.
  • Assist with the coordination and performance of flood plain administration duties in accordance with FEMA and local ordinances.
  • Assist with contract administration for professional services and capital improvement projects.
  • Compose and prepare correspondence.

 

Qualifications:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university with five (5) years related experience, municipal civil engineer experience preferred.
  • Must be a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or be able to obtain Texas license within six months.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering, particularly with the design, construction, and maintenance of public works projects. Experience in land development including grading, drainage, street and utility design preferred.
  • Must actively participate in professional associations in order to keep current in the changes of the law and practice of job responsibilities.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of municipal laws, codes, policies and guidelines applicable to the job responsibilities.
