Job Title: 

Engineering Project Coordinator

Summary: 

The Engineering Project Coordinator manages and coordinates tasks and/or components within larger construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation projects for City infrastructure and facilities.

This position will serve as a professional support mechanism to those responsible for overall project management.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall management of small / routine maintenance & construction projects (self-contained /short duration)
  • Functionality of a planning/design engineer
  • Provide technical assistance to various projects in related disciplines
  • Oversees contracts for various third-party service providers 
  • Provides a wide range of technical analyses of water / sewer systems including:
    • field studies
    • overflow cause analyses
    • hydraulic analyses
    • project scoping
    • prioritization
    • cost estimations
  • Assists with design / construction / coordination of water & sewer infrastructure rehabilitation & replacement projects
  • Performs field engineering & periodic construction inspections
  • Resolves construction conflicts
  • Responds to customer’s /citizen’s inquiries & complaints i.e. construction activities
  • Work with regulatory agencies, to make sure designs meet all applicable rules / regulations & for permitting such as:
    • NCDEQ (North Carolina Department of Environamental Quality)
    • NCDOT (North Carolina Department of Transportation)
    • CDOT (Charlotte Department of Transportation)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to plan / prioritize / complete a large number of concurrent assignments with minimal supervision
  • Ability to oversee / work with CAD technicians & construction inspectors
  • Perform field engineering & periodic construction inspection, as needed
  • Familiarity with a host of Microsoft office products, such as:
    • Outlook
    • Excel
    • Word, etc.
  • Ability to use project scheduling software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD / GIS / ArcMap
  • Proficiency with Excel & Word
  • Good oral / written communication skills
  • EIT or PE Certification
  • Knowledge of water/sewer infrastructure

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with one year of relevant work experience
