SALARY:  $26.02 - $28.95 Hourly (Depending on experience)

Provide a wide range of technical support for both hardware and software systems used in the delivery of public safety services to the citizens of Mesquite. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting and maintaining mobile and fixed computer hardware and software designed for use in the public safety environment.

SUPERVISION

  • General supervision is provided by the Senior Public Safety Computer Administrator/Analyst.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct & Rules of Behavior outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual. 
  • Always adhere to the highest of ethical standards.
  • Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in city and department attendance policies and procedures.
  • Participate in rotation with all members of the Public Safety Support team for 24/7 On-Call duties including, but not limited to, resolving issues for Dispatch, Police, or Fire.
  • Be flexible and aware of the high level of responsibility for the city's expectations regarding support of the Public Safety departments and its citizens.
  • Perform the following, but not limited to, testing, setups, documentation, installs, configurations, upgrades, patching, repairs, backups, physical and remote support of many technological devices including servers, laptops, desktops, mobile data computers, tablets, In-Car Video devices, and others as needed, as trained and with minimal supervision.
  • Perform the following, but not limited to, testing, setups, documentation, installs, configurations, upgrades, repairs, backups, physical and remote support of off the shelf and custom software as needed, as trained and with minimal supervision.
  • Perform the following, but not limited to, some troubleshooting, installation, configuration, and support on networking and wireless networking equipment as well as communicating and collaborating with the cities Network Team to resolve any issues affecting Public Safety.
  • Communicate and collaborate with all of IT as needed.
  • Assist with training in groups and one-on-one when needed.
  • Communicate and collaborate with both Police, Dispatch and Fire administration and personnel as needed.
  • Assist with projects to improve Public Safety and IT's ability to support the cities employees and citizens.
  • Open, take ownership, and close tickets within ticketing system for Public Safety Support issues promptly and with detail information for future reference.
  • Drive to off-site locations such as Fire Stations or Schools to support all Public  Safety as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Graduation from an accredited high school or GED
 
plus, proven four years of work experience in a computer support or closely related field
 
Or
 
plus, Associate degree in a computer discipline plus proven two years of work experience in a computer support or closely related field
 
Or
 
plus, Technical school certification with study in a computer discipline plus proven two years of work experience in a computer support or closely related field
 
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

CRIMINAL HISTORY
 
When assigned to Criminal Justice Information Services Data:

  • Employee will not have a record of being convicted of a Class B misdemeanor or higher offense in order to work with and view Criminal Justice Information Services data.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; participate in rotation with all members of the Public Safety Support team for 24/7 on-call duties including but not limited to, resolving issues for Dispatch, Police, or Fire.
