Description | To submit a formal application, please visit www.templetx.gov/jobs Job Summary Implement and manage all aspects of the City’s Safety Program. Coordinate safety/loss prevention efforts for the organization. Conducts inspections of City facilities, equipment, employee working conditions, safety devices, and vehicles in order to prevent on-the-job accidents. Assists with the development and implementation of an accident prevention plan. Investigates employee accidents and makes recommendations for improvements. Analyzes and interprets accident statistical data and prepares related reports. Supports department’s safety activities by attending safety meetings and identifying safety training needs. Leads the Safety Ambassador Program and serves as the chair of the Safety Committee. Provides oversight of the Hazardous Materials Safety Data Sheet Program. Essential Duties & Responsibilities •Assists with the development and implementation of accident prevention and loss control methods, procedures, and programs. •Investigate, review reports, and make recommendations regarding employee accidents, injuries, and property damage. •Develops, implements, and coordinates training and safety programs to address department needs. •Compiles, analyzes, and interprets accident statistical data and prepares reports designed to communicate this information. •Assist departments in identifying, developing, and implementing areas for safety and training programs. •Conduct safety field inspections. •Routinely meet with departments to discuss safety issues. •Develop, implement, and manage the Safety Ambassador Program. •Identify hazardous conditions, unsafe practices, and improper use of equipment and/or safety devices. •Serves as lead for the Hazardous Materials Safety Data Sheet Program. •Assist with management of Workers Compensation activities to include tracking and analysis of injury reports, safety audits/inspections, and participation in the Workers Compensation Review Board. •Serve as chairman of the Safety Committee.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Government, Business Administration or related field, with a minimum of one year of experience in a safety and training or public sector position in a related field. |
