The City of Cedar Park is seeking qualified applicants for the position of  Network Administrator. The selected applicant will maintain the city's Local Area Network and Wide Area Network. He/she will be responsible for engineering and implementing network changes, troubleshooting and resolving network outages. He/she will stay current in respective technologies and advises the Infrastructure Services Manager on improvements to network equipment and architecture. The selected applicant will research and evaluate technologies on the market including network capacity and security designs based on specific project needs and/or general department guidelines for high-performing, reliable service, ensuring acquisition of hardware and software most beneficial to the City.

• In depth knowledge and experience with VLAN, STP, VTP, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, DMVPN, VRF and route redistribution; 
• Knowledge of layer 1 technologies such as SM and MM fiber, microwave transmission, copper, and LTE;
• Knowledge and experience with next generation firewalls;
• Knowledge of virtual networking and vxlan;
• Knowledge of VOIP telephony systems, SRST and PRI technologies;
• Knowledge of Solar Winds Orion tools such as network performance monitor, netflow, and network configuration manager; and
• Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Acceptable Experience, Training, Certifications and Licenses

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field plus five (5) years of increasingly responsible network configuration design and problem resolution,
 
or: any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Supplemental Information

Valid Texas Driver's License, with acceptable driving record.

Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA)and Cisco Certified network Professional Certification (CCNP) required, 

or: ability to obtain CCNA and CCNP certifications within one year from date of hire.
