The Utility Technician performs various duties and operates various equipment in the maintenance, repair and construction of City water/sewer system components.  This position is part of a team that responds to and resolves various water/sewer line problems, including fixing and removing line stoppages.  

• Walks and/or drives vehicle to assigned route and reads water meters.

• Checks meters; determines if functioning properly; completes documents indicating meter irregularities.

• Cleans meter dials and meter boxes; reports meter tampering for water meters.

• Connects and disconnects water services; disconnects meters for non-payment of utility service; keeps accurate records of meter reads, connects and disconnects.

• Inspects equipment and performs preventive maintenance or repairs; refers complex equipment problems to supervisor.

• Confers with customers regarding service problems and reports feedback to supervisor.

• Operates various equipment, including backhoe, excavator, skid steer, hydro excavator, jet machine and loaders.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent; Customer Service experience preferred
 
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
      Valid Texas Driver's License
      Wastewater D License required within first 12 mos of hire.
      Wastewater C License required within 3 yrs of hire date.

Hiring Range: $14.96-$16.34/hr
