The GIS/Engineering Intern is a qualified undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Geography, Engineering, Environmental Studies or related field. The goal of the internship is to provide the student a meaningful internship experience in the functions and work of a municipal water/wastewater treatment plant.

 
 Principal Duties:
  1. Learn to Field locate and GPS water/wastewater infrastructure.
  2. Assist with the collection and processing of water/wastewater data from field monitoring equipment.
  3. Observe field work and proper data collection procedures.
  4. Provide research and administrative support.
  5. Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.

 
 Qualifications:

Required:      
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Valid Class "C" Texas motor vehicle operator license. Average Microsoft Word and Excel skills. Good oral and written communication skills.
 
Preferred:     
Experience with Trimble GPS. Experience with ESRI ArcGIS. Ability to read and interpret utility construction drawings and specifications. Currently enrolled in Geography, Engineering, Environmental Studies or related field.
