Description
The Municipal Court Intern will observe all Court proceedings, conduct legal research, and call defendants in active warrant status.  The goal of the internship is to provide the student a meaningful internship experience in the functions and work in a Municipal Courts setting.
 

 
 Principal Duties:
1.   Observe Court proceedings:  arraignments, jury and bench trials, jail arraignments, and pretrial hearings.
2.   Assist in legal research and creation of continuing legal education seminars.  Analyze and discuss relevant case law.
3.   Communicate with defendants in active warrant, letting those defendants know they are in active warrant and need to come to court.
4.   Assist with special projects such as the Warrant Amnesty/Round-up.

 
 Qualifications:

Required:        
Currently undergraduate or graduate student primarily with an interest in pursuing a career in the legal field.
