Description | The Capital Area Council of Governments, CAPCOG, is an organization of city and county governments in the 10-county region surrounding the Austin metro area created to foster collaboration at the regional level and promote economy and efficiency in the coordinated development of the region. The staff of the Finance department is responsible for all internal and external financial services for CAPCOG programs in accordance with grant and contract agreements. CAPCOG offers full coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance and a generous contribution to 401K. Our Finance department is seeking an Accountant I to perform entry-level accounting work. The work will involve accounts payable/receivable, preparing checks, cash receipts, general journal entries and related expenditure vouchers; receiving cash and credit card receipts and maintaining cash control records; preparing deposits and bank reconciliations; and other duties as appropriate for an Accountant I. This person will ensure work is completed accurately and timely, and consistent with agency record keeping procedures. Work is performed using the MIP Fund Accounting software. Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in accounting is generally preferred. Experience: Minimum of two years of accounting experience that includes bank reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable required.
