Description

Scope of Work: Performs all routine maintenance, repair and landscaping for airfield, landslide and  associated buildings.

 

 Essential Job Duties:
  • Performs routine airport maintenance such as painting, plumbing, sweeping and mowing.
  • Performs necessary landscape maintenance.
  • Performs sprinkler system maintenance as necessary.
  • Performs runway edge erosion repair and rubber removal.
  • Removes snow and ice from airside and landslide.
  • Washes cars.
  • Seals cracks and performs concrete work as necessary.
  • Operates and maintains equipment used in daily operations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

 Physical and Environmental Conditions:

Ability to sit, stand and transport self from building to building. Ability to drive a vehicle to and from various worksites. Employee will work in extreme seasonal temperatures that require bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, twisting  and climbing to complete work or make repairs on equipment and/or facilities. Employee may be exposed to potentially hazardous chemicals, fumes and noise levels while maintaining airport facilities.

 

 Required Qualifications:

Employee communicates with other employees in the work group and may respond to questions from the general public regarding services or specific projects. Also communicates via radio with air traffic control tower and the Airport Operations Control Center personnel.

Knowledge and Skills
Ability to read and understand work orders and equipment manuals. Skill in the operation of hand tools and equipment such as mowers, tractors, gas powered trimmers, sweepers,  and other maintenance tools. Ability to analyze problems with trees, bushes, grass and other landscaping ornamentals.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Certification
High school diploma or equivalent and a valid Texas driver's license required. Herbicide applicators license a plus.
