Skilled Trades Worker I - General Maintenance Technician (New FY20 Budgeted Position - Selected candidate will start on or after 10/1):  This position will perform labor functions in preventative maintenance services for commercial building systems. Performs medium grade level electrical, plumbing & painting services. Meets, escorts and assists with contracted vendors servicing above systems and devices.

****The successful candidate will be subject to an extensive background check(s) as a part of the hiring process.

Duties:

• Performs preventative maintenance, trouble shoots and makes repairs to building systems, exit / egress lighting, office lighting, plumbing flush valves, clears stoppages, inspects, services floor drains for water seal.
• Service drop ceiling systems for appearance, cleans HVAC diffusers & louvers.
• Exercise water main exterior shutoffs, exercise interior hi-rise floor shut off for each floor.
• Accompanies vendors/contracted service providers to location of problem and explains the issue needing repair and/or service.
• Works in conjunction assisting Skilled Trades II or Compliance Maintenance Specialist. 

Minimum Qualifications:  A High School Diploma or its equivalent and two (2) years of experience in the applicable trade or maintenance service industry as outlined above and a valid Florida Driver's License at time of appointment.

**Work Hours:  Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.  Participates in on-call rotation.

Preferred Qualifications:  Exposure to institutional, governmental or large commercial buildings and building systems related to any or one of the primary purposes as stated above is beneficial.

Job Competencies:  Able to use a computer or indicator screens specific to a system, able to interpret, understand system indicator lights, alarms, devices and their purpose. Capable of using small hand tools and use the right tool for the job. Understand detailed verbal and written instructions and directions. Able to prioritize workload and remain flexible during a business day. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
