Skilled Trades Worker I - Lock & Door System Technician (New FY20 Budgeted Position - Selected candidate will start on or after 10/1):  This position will perform labor functions in preventative maintenance services for Lock & Key, Door Systems. Is second in call order for Locksmith work. Performs low grade level electrical service work. Installer & repair person for standalone magnetic and strike door control systems. Meets, escorts and assists with contracted vendors servicing above systems and devices.

****The successful candidate will be subject to an extensive background check(s) as a part of the hiring process.

Duties:

• Repairs and trouble shoots maintenance problems; repairs or assists with repairs of door systems, electric and mechanical locking mechanisms and keys.
• Works in conjunction with the County Locksmith with work order completion when workload is too great or other. Makes (cuts) keys and repairs doors and locks.
• Maintains, investigates and assists with minor repairs in basic automatic doors and gates. Accompanies vendors/ contracted service providers to facility/location and demonstrates/explains required repairs and service needed.
• Meets with contractors as required providing door maintenance and installation services.  Escorts vendors/contractors, shows them device/system requiring service and inspects their work.

Minimum Qualifications:  A High School Diploma or its equivalent and two (2) years of experience in the applicable trade or maintenance service industry encompassed by the position and a valid Florida Driver's License at time of appointment.

**Work Hours:  Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.  Participates in on-call rotation.

Preferred Qualifications:  Exposure to institutional, governmental or large commercial buildings and building systems related to any or one of the primary purposes as stated above is beneficial.

Job Competencies:  Able to use a computer or indicator screens specific to a system, able to interpret, understand system indicator lights, alarms, devices and their purpose. Capable of using small hand tools and use the right tool for the job. Understand detailed verbal and written instructions and directions. Able to prioritize workload and remain flexible during a business day. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
