Business Professional I (Working Title: Planner Scheduler) (New FY20 Budgeted Position - Selected candidate will start on or after 10/1):   Strategic and tactical development and implementation of short term and long-range comprehensive preventative maintenance plans and schedules for the operations and maintenance of the water and wastewater systems utilizing a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), including technical interface with vendor/supplier personnel, contract negotiation and project coordination. Coordinates CMMS resource team efforts; develops and implements training curriculum; establishes materials, equipment and personnel requirements for planned work, and reviews work activities for proficiency and conformance to requirements, policies, procedures and work standards. Maintains all CMMS records related to the above.

Duties:

  • Coordinates the development and implementation of daily, weekly and long-range preventive, predictive and scheduled maintenance plans for all aspects of water/wastewater and their related systems and equipment using staff or contracted work.  Creates routes, schedules, job plans, and purchase and work orders in the CMMS as appropriate.
  • Assists with developing preventive and/or predictive maintenance plans for new CIP assets and locations. Creates new records within CMMS as needed.  Maintains all asset and location records related to water/wastewater treatment plants.
  • Obtains quotes for the repair or replacement of parts and equipment.  Creates scopes of work for contracted maintenance, when necessary.
  • Assists with monitoring and analyzing effectiveness and efficiency of all aspects of work performed using various reports. Recommends adjustments to job plans, and reviews work orders for data accuracy and conformance to work requirements, policies, procedures, standards and business rules. Works with Operations Manager, Maximo and GIS to develop new reports.
  • Verifies craft/skill, labor, time durations, parts/ materials, tools/equipment, and job safety requirements are in compliance with county, state and OSHA specifications.
  • Assists with establishing workload priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Assists with developing and conducting training programs and activities.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships; provides coverage for other Operations & Maintenance areas during vacations or vacancies as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:  An Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in a physical or natural science, engineering, business administration or related field with three (3)  years job-related experience - OR - A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in job-related field; one year job-related experience in water or wastewater utility field preferred.  Five (5) years professional related experience can be substituted for the degree at management discretion.

Preferred Qualifications:  Experience working with CMMS with Maximo version 6 or higher preferred. Experience with MS Office. Experience working with ESRI GIS software.

Job Competencies: Knowledge of asset and work management principles and best practices required. Experience working with a broad range of staff.  Knowledge of codes, ordinances and regulations related to utility work.  Experience working with vendors and contractors. Ability to work with and train staff in the use of the CMMS.  Experience with pumps, motors, instrumentation, controls, meters, analyzers and other equipment found in water and wastewater systems, and the parts used to repair them.
